1. Full-Day Guided e-Bike Tour – Franschhoek

Explore the Franschhoek Valley by electric bicycle on a full-day guided tour through vineyards, historic estates and mountain scenery. The route follows quiet roads and cycle paths, with regular stops to learn about the history of the valley, its wine farms and the French Huguenot settlers who established the area in the late 17th century. Many of today’s wine estates still carry their original French names and continue a winemaking tradition that spans more than 300 years. ([South African History Online]¹)

During the day, the tour visits three to four wine farms, depending on the pace of the group and the day’s itinerary. Your guide shares the history of each estate, its vineyards and its contribution to the Franschhoek wine industry. Two wine tastings are included, allowing guests to experience a selection of locally produced wines while learning about the region’s unique terroir.

A coffee stop is included at one of the valley’s cafés or wine estates, providing an opportunity to relax before continuing the ride through the surrounding vineyards and orchards.

The tour also includes a visit to the Berg River Dam viewpoint, where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Franschhoek and Drakenstein Mountains. Completed in 2009, the dam forms part of the Western Cape Water Supply System and supplies water to the City of Cape Town while creating one of the valley’s most scenic landscapes. ([Wikipedia]²)

Throughout the day, the electric bicycles make it possible to comfortably cover more of the valley while allowing plenty of time to stop for photographs, explore the wine estates and appreciate the natural surroundings.
